3-Day Workshop
Led by Bree Woodward
Explore the Colorful, diverse world of Insects in this 3-session life sculpture workshop where you will create beautiful insects using supplied templates like Beautiful Butterflies, Delicate Dragonflies, Marvelous Moths, Bumbling Bees, Scintillating Cicadas, and Brilliant Beetles.
Skills you will gain in this workshop:
Study and interpret insect anatomy, symmetry, and proportion
Use provided templates and visual references to accurately block out complex forms
Construct delicate yet structurally sound ceramic sculptures (wings, legs, antennae, and body segments)
Build dimensional relief and fine detail using hand-building techniques
Refine surface texture and pattern to capture species-specific characteristics
Engineer balance and attachment points for fragile elements
Develop finishing techniques that enhance realism and visual impact
This workshop provides:
- Pre-rolled clay slabs with the possibility of purchasing more clay
- Templates
- 6 hours of LAB, which you will want to make use of to refine techniques learned in session.
